About project

The aim of the project is to protect valuable or restore degraded pond sites through alternative pond management. In the project, we are piloting the use of alternative fish stocking and verifying a sustainable management method on our own leased ponds or on reservoirs owned by AOPK ČR or VLS ČR, so that the ponds meet the criteria of well-functioning and species-rich ecosystems.

We will present the acquired experience and procedures as examples of good practice to the professional and wider public. The process of testing alternative stocking also opens up the possibility of planting disappearing, native fish species and thus enhance the impact of the project not only on the conservation of the ecosystem but also on the species of our native ichthyofauna. The project's intention is thus to rationally link the requirements of nature conservation with economic activities, not only of fishing entities.
